The Vauxhall Vivaro is an immensely popular vehicle in the UK. The original Vauxhall boasted a 13 year production life, retaining its cult following throughout that time.
If you currently drive a Vivaro, you may be reluctant to make the switch to the latest model. Thankfully, Vauxhall have taken some of the stress out of swapping vehicles by keeping the cargo area almost exactly the same size, therefore allowing any racking or panelling you have in your current van to be swapped over.
The Vauxhall Vivaro range is straightforward and will be familiar to anyone with experience of owning this popular van. There are two lengths available (L1 and L2), two heights (H1 and H2), and three basic body styles: Panel van, Double Cab and Combi bus. Vauxhall also offers a Platform Cab that allows for specialist modifications.
A big change of the new model was ditching the old 2.0 litre diesel engine in favour of a 1.6 CDTI lump. While the displacement may have decreased, power and torque have increased while also boasting significantly lower CO2 emissions. This is a huge bonus for fleet operators and company van drivers. Vauxhall’s ecoFLEX efficiency branding is applied to certain models in the Vivaro range, this indicates the presence of stop-start, regenerative braking technology and aerodynamic improvements to further shrink the van’s carbon footprint.
A feature that proves popular with everyone who discovers it is a load through bulkhead, introduced first by Ford but now adopted almost universally across mid-sized vans, that allows items to pass under the passenger seat and right into the footwell. This extends maximum carrying length in short-wheelbase models from 2537mm to 3750mm and in long-wheelbase variants from 2937mm to 4150mm. Keyless entry and start are a cost extra as is a Navi 80 IntelliLink sat-nav system that replaces all of the radio controls with a 7.0 inch touchscreen.
